Xiamen's first International-standard hotel, and still the best, the Millennium Harbourview Hotel Xiamen was the haven for Xiamen's foreign community when it opened, and it has gotten better by the year. For convenience, comfort, and class, this is the place to stay. It also has three of my favorite restaurants (more below).

The Millennium Xiamen Hotel is ideally located in 'old downtown'--a pleasant stroll to either Gulangyu Ferry or historic Zhongshan Rd.tourism and shopping district.

Fine Dining! The Millennium's Harbour Cafe not only has Xiamen's best breakfast buffet but also a different international cuisine each night of the week. Monday features German cuisine. Tuesday feast on exotic Caribbean fare. On Wednesday night you can sample Thai, Vietnamese, etc. at their Asian buffet. Fine French cuisine is served Thursday evenings, and their succulent seafood spread is the highlight each Friday and Saturday evening. For Japanese, try the Sakura Japanese Restaurant. And for the best Italian in town, try the Millennium's Portofino....

Portofino proudly serves up the delightful culinary creations of the Maseratti-loving Chef Pippo (Giuseppe Messina, of Militello, Italy; Executive Italian Chef since 2001).

Loong Yuen, the excellent Cantonese restaurant, has exceptional seafood, and you'll marvel as their master pasta chef works his magic!

Loong Yuen's vegetarian cuisineM is a favorite even with the international Buddhist dignitaries who often stay at the Millennium. The chefs received special training at a monastery before developing their unique vegetarian dishes).

Hollywood Bar In the Millennium Hotel, this unique Malt Whiskey Bar is probably Xiamen Expat's oldest and most dependable hangout. Phone ahead for reservations if you want to book a party to watch a ball game on the big screen tv.
